Superluminous Three-Wave Solitary Brillouin Structures

چکیده
Self-similar deformation of three-wave stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) dissipative structures (“Brillouin quasi-solitons”) yields superluminous behaviors. The authors discuss the relevancy of the various velocities involved in the nonlinear propagation of such complex structures, both in the ideal semi-infinite case and in a real-world Brillouin fiber ring laser experiment. Optical and acoustical group velocities greater than are shown to occur during pulse propagation in SBS soliton lasers.

Dissipative three-wave structures in stimulated backscattering. I. A subluminous solitary attractor
We present a solitary solution of the three-wave nonlinear partial differential equation ~PDE! model— governing resonant space-time stimulated Brillouin or Raman backscattering—in the presence of a cw pump and dissipative material and Stokes waves. The study is motivated by pulse formation in optical fiber experiments. As a result of the instability any initial bounded Stokes signal is amplifie...
متن کاملThree-Wave Backward Optical Solitons
Three-wave solitons backward propagating with respect to a pump wave are generated in nonlinear optical media through stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in optical fibers or through the non-degenerate three-wave interaction in quadratic (χ (2)) nonlinear media. In an optical fiber-ring cavity, nanosecond solitary wave morphogenesis takes place when it is pumped with a continuous wave (c.w.)....
متن کاملNumerical investigation of free surface flood wave and solitary wave using incompressible SPH method
Simulation of free surface flow and sudden wave profile are recognized as the most challenging problem in computational hydraulics. Several Eulerian/Lagrangian approaches and models can be implemented for simulating such phenomena in which the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method (SPH) is categorized as a proper candidate. The incompressible SPH (ISPH) method hires a precise incompressible hy...
متن کاملOptical solitary waves in two- and three-dimensional nonlinear photonic band-gap structures
We present a detailed analysis of finite energy solitary waves in twoand three-dimensional nonlinear periodic structures exhibiting a complete photonic band gap. Solitary waves in photonic crystals with a twodimensional ~2D! square and triangular symmetry group as well as a 3D fcc symmetry group are described in terms of an effective nonlinear Dirac equation derived using the slowly varying env...
متن کاملInvestigating the Amount of Forces Caused by Solitary Waves on Coastal Walls Using OpenFOAM Software
Coastal walls (dyke) are one of the methods of protecting the coast against coastal erosion and destructive forces of waves. The purpose of this study is to simulate the wave collision with the coastal dyke and compare the results with the laboratory model. Open FOAM open source software and K-ω SST turbulence model were used to simulate the amount of wave consumed by the coastal dyke. Taking i...
